New character and short film in the works

I just wanted to share where I'm at with a new character for a short film I want to make called Future 86. Click on the images for downloadable tif files.
Beetle Blasphemy screening at Bend Film Festival

Bend Film Festival LogoI've just received word that Beetle Blasphemy has been accepted into the 2008 Bend Film Festival that will be held from October 9-12 in Bend, Oregon. Unfortunately with my busyish schedule, I can't make it out there but it seems to be a really awesome festival with wonderful prizes. I'll post more info when I receive it. Here's a link to the festival's site: www.bendfilm.org

Update: A screen cap of Beetle Blasphemy is being featured on BendFilm's homepage. Go check it out.
2008 Demo Reel and SIGGRAPH 2008

In lieu of my trip to the 2008 SIGGRAPH, I have produced a new demo reel. Click on the image below to view the reel.

I'll see you at SIGGRAPH.
Pixar Facility Visit on the Horizon

Last week I was invited to the Pixar Education Symposium which is taking place the Monday after SIGGRAPH at Pixar Studios in San Francisco, CA. The all day event will include a guided tour of the facility as well as a breakdown of their pipeline and various sessions covering all the major elements of a production. There is also a session covering what they like to see in demo reels. It should be a total blast and I'll be posting pictures of the event (we're only allowed to take pictures in the atrium) when I get back.
Beetle Blasphemy On Unicorn Media

Unicorn Media Logo Unicorn Media has accepted my film to display on their site. Basically I get a certain percentage of the ad revenue from users that view the film. So if any of you have time, go to Unicorn Media and search for Beetle Blasphemy. Here's hoping for some revenue.
Beetle Blasphemy 8th Place at Twin Rivers

Twin Rivers Media Festival LaurelsSo apparently this festival has already taken place since I was informed that I won 8th place in the Animation category there. Why do they go all the way up to 8th place you ask? I figure either they received a massive amount of films and they couldn't with all honesty only pick three for the placings or, and this is much more likely, they want everyone to feel good about themselves and there were only 8 animated films. I'd like to think the former but the latter is more probable. Anywho, I got these funky laurels to show off so that's cool.
Beetle Blasphemy Accepted Into the Twin Rivers Media Festival

Twin Rivers Media Festival LaurelsI have recently received word that Beetle Blasphemy has been accepted into the Twin Rivers Media Festival held this May in Ashville, North Carolina. I'm not sure exactly what date or time it will screen but there will be updates at http://www.twinriversmediafestival.com. I will post details when I get them. For now enjoy the laurels.
Loopy Locators added to Code Section

I've added another script to the code section of the site. This is a python script which, based on a selection of various edge loops and edge selections, will create a locator or joint chain through the center of those said selections. This script really helps with laying down joints for fingers since they are usually at odd angles. Loopy Locators makes it a simple task.

New Character in the works...

MaranJust wanted to post this new character I'm modelling. He's part of a film idea I've been brewing in my head called "The Burrows". I finally have all his appendages modelled so I did a few test renders. Here's one of them.
Phoenix Film Festival update

Pheonix Film Festival LogoI just wanted to post an update on the Phoenix Film Festival. They have updated the film list interface so now you can see more info about Beetle Blasphemy as well as some fancy screenshots. This seems like it will be a really great festival. Sadly I will be teaching at RIT during it. Oh well. Click here to see the page and also to get more info about the festival.
