Rise of the Planet of the Apes
2011-08-17

Movie Rating:

The Good:

• the relationship between Caesar and James Franco's character
• Andy Serkis's motion capture performance for Caesar
• although still not perfect (we can't seem to get realistic CG eyes), the CG is pretty great
• Caesar's character arc
• the action

The Meh:

• nada

The Bad:

• one line of very familiar dialogue in a very important scene

Midnight in Paris
2011-08-14

Movie Rating:

The Good:

• the dialogue and humor
• the quirkiness
• the portrayal of Paris on film
• the great exaggerated depictions of historical artists and the actors who played them (especially Hemingway)
• the pedantic one and the actor who played him

The Meh:

• Owen Wilson walks the line of being every other character he ever played in a film and being something more interesting
• although most dialogue is very well written, some of it comes across as slightly over-written

The Bad:

• nada

Sam Adams East West Kolsch
2011-08-06

Beer Rating:

The Type:

• Kolsch

The Good:

• the medium body and a light refreshing flavor of a summer beer
• the light malty character with a dry hoppy finish

The Meh:

• could have been interesting to have a more accentuated floral edge
• not a very robust head

The Bad:

• no nose at all here except for a very light floral note

The Good:

• good red amber color

• refreshing

The Meh:

• simple straight forward flavor (although that's not a bad thing for a refreshing beer)
• loses some of its crispness relatively quickly so drink it within a short period of time

The Bad:

• nada
